Starting a New Skincare Routine? You’re Not Alone.

Starting a new skincare product can be daunting—trust me, I’ve been there. I’ve lost count of how many times I nervously applied a new cream, only to feel the dreaded sting or get overwhelmed by a strong, artificial fragrance that made me want to wipe it off immediately.

But trying new skincare can also be a beautiful experience. When you've been using the same supermarket face cream or hand lotion for years, discovering something that truly hydrates and softens your tired, dry skin can feel like a breath of fresh air.

As we age, our skin naturally needs more support. What worked in your twenties likely won’t cut it anymore. Hydration, nourishment, and barrier repair become essential.

Here’s my advice for easing into a new routine:

Start slow. It’s tempting to overhaul your whole skincare shelf overnight, but introducing one product at a time allows you to truly understand what’s working—and what’s not.

Natural skincare can also take time to adjust to, especially if you’ve been using products filled with silicones, which give the illusion of instant smoothness but don’t support long-term skin health.

Begin with a simple, gentle cleanser. If you’re not removing makeup, try using cold or filtered water—it’s often more pH-balanced and calming for the skin. Follow with a small amount of face cream, warming it in your hands and gently massaging it into your skin. Let your skin absorb it slowly. The warmth helps the cream melt in and work its magic.

Give your skin the time it deserves. The results are worth it.
