The Barrier: Your Skin’s First Line of Defence

Think of your skin as a finely woven cloth. The outer layer — your barrier — is the tight stitching that holds it all together.
When it’s strong, moisture stays in and irritants stay out.
When it’s frayed, dryness and discomfort follow.
Many creams disguise this weakness with silicones and fillers, giving the illusion of repair without mending the weave.
Natural oils and butters, rich in essential fatty acids, restore the threads. Glycerine draws water in and holds it there. The result is not a temporary mask, but a true repair.

Other ways to protect your skin barrier:

  • Avoid overly hot water when washing hands.

  • Use gentle, pH-balanced hand soaps.

  • Moisturise immediately after washing to lock in hydration.

  • Limit alcohol-based sanitisers when possible — follow with balm when you must use them.
